Why the Atkins Diet works and why you don’t need it. Part 2.

If you want to lose weight, you only, yes only have to remove sugars from your diet. Not easy but its true. It’s very difficult to put on weight without sugar and liquid calories.

Its never going to be easy to give up sugar though. It’s one of the most, (if not the most), addictive substances on the planet. The more you eat, the more your body craves it, and on and on until you end up with diabetes and heart disease. It’s worth the effort, keep trying.

Another added bonus from avoiding sugar (fructose in particular) is that your hair will not fall out, because fructose is a toxin, your liver is overworked and cannot provide enough nutrients for non essential tasks like maintaining hair, nails and skin etc in good condition. Not to mention teeth and gums and the bacteria that you ingest from tooth decay, which thrives on sugar in the mouth and which causes so many gut problems like IBS. Then the medicines you take to remedy them make it even worse. To maintain a healthy body you need a healthy diet. Sugar is not part of a healthy diet, however it’s disguised.

Just remember that any false diet will only work while you are on it. After all, nobody will go on any kind of diet and continue to eat sweets and donuts and drink cola. When you reach your target you will eat the same again and put all the weight back on. So forget diets, just eat anything you like in moderation but avoid sugars and sugar substitutes like the plague. That includes sugars in processed and takeaway foods. Try to cook as much as possible yourself, and then you will know what is in your food. The labels on ready meals will never tell the whole truth.

If you want a snack, try making some guacamole (not shop bought) and cut some raw carrot and cucumber batons to dip into. Delicious. Don’t knock it till you try it. Here is a really nice recipe and many others, just ignore the sweet recipes. Reread the above if you feel tempted. Why eat the bad stuff when there is so much good stuff available. Seems like a no brainer doesn’t it? http://www.simplyrecipes.com/recipes/perfect_guacamole/

Enjoy!
